Curriculum Structure
Undergraduate (B.Sc.) Program for Regular Students
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) is one of the most prestigious disciplines under the faculty of Engineering and offers relevant courses to produce highly skilled graduates with theoretical and well equipped practical knowledge. Courses of study for a Bachelor of Science (Engg) degree in CSE will extend over a period of 4 (four) academic years and each academic year will be divided into 3 (three) semesters. As a result the whole courses of study will be divided into 12 (twelve) semesters. A Semester is conducted for a period of 4 (four) months named as Spring Semester, Summer Semester and Fall Semester in each academic year. Examinations are held at the middle and the end of the each semester.
A student of Bachelor‘s program in CSE will have to conduct all 66 (sixty six) courses and Thesis or Project work (total 160.5 credits) listed in syllabus. Of the 66 courses, there will be 47 (forty seven) core courses (102 credits: theory courses 81 credits, Lab courses 21 credits) and 19 courses are in other areas. Among the 19 courses offered, a student will have to conduct a total of 3 (three) courses (9 credits) related to Language, 1 course (3 credits) related to Social Science, 1 course (3 credits) related to Business, 4(four) courses (9 credits) related to Physics, 6(six) courses (18 credits) related to Mathematics and Statistics, 1 course (1.5 credits) related to Interdisciplinary Engineering, 3(three) courses (9 credits) related to Computer Science and Engineering Elective and 6 credits Thesis or Project Work.
Undergraduate (B.Sc.) Program for Diploma Students
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) also offers B.Sc. (Engg) program for diploma students. But the duration for completing the program is extended over a period of 3 (three) academic years & 4(four) months and each academic year will be divided into 3 (three) semesters. As a result the whole courses of study will be divided into 10 (ten) semesters. A Semester is conducted for a period of 4 (four) months named as Spring Semester, Summer Semester and Fall Semester in each academic year. Examinations are held at the middle and the end of the each semester.
A diploma student of Bachelor‘s program in CSE will have to conduct mainly 59 (fifty nine) courses and Thesis or Project work (total 142.5 credits) listed in syllabus. Of the 59 courses, there will have 45 (forty five) core courses (96.00 credits: theory courses 75 credits, Lab courses 21.00 credits) and 14 courses are in other area. Among the 14 courses offered, a student will have to conduct a total of 2(two) courses (4.5 credits) related to Physics, 6(six) courses (18 credits) related to Mathematics and Statistics, 2 (two) courses (6 credits) related to Language, 1 course (3 credits) related to Social Science, 3(three) courses (9 credits) related to Computer Science and Engineering Elective. And 6 credits Thesis or Project Work. But to complete the B.Sc.(Engg) in CSE for diploma students, the following 6(six) courses (18.0 credits) are given waiver.
