Report of the Orientation Workshop of the Volunteer Services Club
The orientation Program of the Volunteer Services Club was held on 24 April 2019 at 12:00 pm in the Conference Room-2 (Level-8) of the University.
Mir Shahabuddin, Honorable Chairman of the Board of Trustees graced the chair of the Chief Guest while Professor Mohammad Arshad Ali, Treasurer and Md. Nur Hossain Talukder, Controller of the Examinations of the University, were in the chair of Special Guests. M A Jabber, Convener, Volunteer Services Club and Registrar of the University presided over the program. Seventy Seven volunteer students from respective Departments along with Volunteer Services Committee Members were present in the program.
The program was anchored by Rakib Uddin, Member, Volunteer Services Club and Assistant Professor, Department of English. At the onset, Md. Ashrafuzzaman, Member Secretary, Volunteer Services Club and Assistant Professor, Department of Education, delivered welcome speech concerning the activities and initiatives of Volunteer Services Club.
Subsequently, Md. Nur Hossain Talukder, Controller of the Examinations and an Advisor of the Volunteer Services Club, stated about the importance of the Volunteers Services Club with real life examples.
Prof Mohammad Arshad Ali, Treasurer of the University clearly defined the term, volunteerism and expected that volunteer would work for the humanity and he also inspired the volunteers to get them involved in any social work which ultimately leads to serving the humanity.
M A Jabber, Convener, Volunteer Services Club and Registrar of the University expressed that, this committee will work inside and outside of the campus. He also described the terms of references of the Volunteer Services Club.
In the speech of the Chief Guest, Mir Shahabuddin, Honorable Chairman, BOT, Prime University and Advisor of the Volunteer Services Club, defined the volunteer services as the great human quality that can only be achieved by the activities done for the betterment of human beings. He was delighted to see the spontaneous participation of the volunteer students. Further he mentioned some remarkable instances and personal experiences of volunteer services before the volunteers. In his speech he announced the important issues stated below:
- Volunteers would be provided with uniform and badge
- Volunteers will be divided into groups according to different types of activities
- Short training would be provided to the volunteers regularly
- Every volunteer should be committed to doing his assigned responsibilities
- University will provide all kind of necessary supports
Finally, the program came to an end with the thanks from the Convener of the Volunteer Services Club.
